monetizing live video content

Had drinks tonight with the head of Biz Dev of one of the Majors discussing the monetization of high quality video of a live performance. It appeared that when offering a 50/50 split between the producer and the label, the label will most likely be interested but will probably only accept a 60/40 split. However, deals might be split along the lines of: labels keeps digital rights, producers keeps broadcast rights. In any case, split deals are very interesting to labels and videographers should not settle on giving away their rights in full.
